When Amy Mason got hacked, she lost her number, bank account and social media access. And then the hackers started sending her gifts… A surprising, somewhat filthy dive into connection, intimacy, and the perils of using your dead cat’s name as your password for literally everything. Directed by Jessica Fostekew. As heard on Radio 1, Radio 5 and Radio 4. Guardian’s Top 10 Funniest Jokes of Edinburgh Fringe 2024.

Would you mind giving us a brief insight into what your show/event/performance is?
Behold! is a show (5.50pm! Pleasance Courtyard!) about me getting hacked and then the hackers sending me some very unexpected adult gifts in the post. It’s a show about being a bit isolated and experiencing the world through your phone, and then the world enters your life in the weirdest imaginable way. It’s surprising and gripping and weird yet somehow very relatable for a lot of people, i think.
Tell us about the creative team and the process involved?
Jessica Fostekew is directing the show which is absolutely amazing. She’s one of my very favourite comedians. She also directed Amy Gledhill last year! She only directs people called Amy. I’ve been making the show on stage completely – improvising based on a snatched thought and then honing those bits into jokes. I haven’t sat down and written stuff at my laptop like I did last year, and I think the show is much better for it.
How does it feel coming to the Fringe?
I’m looking forward to it! Last year I was terrified, but this year I’m excited.
With shows from all over the world at the Fringe, what sets yours apart?
No one is going to have a story like this, I don’t think. If they do, I want to meet them.
Is there anything specific you’re hoping the audience will take away?
I hope they’ll feel a bit less alone, but mainly just laugh. It’s a deeply silly show.
Your Ideal audience is in attendance, who’s watching? Or more importantly – who isn’t…?
Anyone who spends too much time on their phone! Love my fellow queers and mums on a day out, especially.
It’s an intense month, so where you’re able, how do you plan to relax, and are there any other shows you intend to see or want to recommend?
Katie Norris, Molly McGuiness, June Tuesday, Jain Edwards
In your ideal world, how can we improve the Fringe, performance, and the industry?
Designated artists’ accommodation that is affordable and well organised.
