Rosie and Hugh the Hedgehog are best friends. They want it to be the last day of the summer holidays forever. Impossible? Not if they can find the witch who lives in the middle of the forest with her pet dragon. Join Rosie, Hugh, a squirrel with a wobbly tooth, a little lizard and one very rusty robot on a great, big, heart-warming adventure. Jam-packed with songs from CBeebies‘ Nick Cope, this show is for 3-8-year-old adventurers – and their families! Presented by Fringe First Award-winning The North Wall.

Tell us about the creative team and the process involved?
The show is based on the songs of Nick Cope from CBeebies and the book is written by Victoria Saxton. It’s been developed over the last couple of years and is a wonderful production performed by 5 actor-musicians, presented by The North Wall.
How does it feel coming to the Fringe?
Very exciting. We’ve been at the fringe twice before with North Wall productions, winning 2 fringe first awards, a Stage Award and the Popcorn Award, so we have a lovely history here and are excited to be presenting a family musical this year.
There are over 3,000 shows at the Fringe. So, what sets your show apart?
It’s a joyous, thoughtful, playful musical for 3-8-year-olds with music and lyrics by the amazing Nick Cope who everyone loves from his work on CBeebies.
Is there anything specific you’re hoping the audience will take away?
We want our young audiences (and their families) to be entertained, to laugh and sing, and to think a lot about hope, courage and kindness.
Your ideal audience is in attendance, who’s watching? Or more importantly – who isn’t there…
The show is aimed at 3-8-year-olds and their families. Everyone is welcome!
It’s an intense month, so where you’re able, how do you plan to relax, and are there any other shows you intend to see or want to recommend?
Different age range but I’m looking forward to seeing I Really Do Think This Will Change Your Life made by the brilliant Hetty Hodgson.
In your ideal world, how can we improve the Fringe, of performance, and the industry?
More funding and structural support for new writing / new work. And subsidised accommodation during the festival so that it remains accessible for more people.
