Would you mind giving us an insight into what your show/event/performance is?
It’s a new show everyday! We’re making the show totally topical, a bit like Umbongo but short an R.
It’s like an American ‘Late Show’ so we have a monologue, news breakdowns, a house band, correspondents, extended sections on newsworthy topics, a house band and a great guest each day.
Tell us about the creative team and the process involved?
The core team is me, lead correspondent Will Davies and house band Katie Pritchard. I’m really excited to work with them on this, they’re both incredibly funny and talented.
Each day we’re going to meet up in the morning and see what the news is looking like that day, then we’ll choose the stories we’re covering and segments we want to include and we’ll get writing and planning.
How does it feel coming to (back to) the Fringe?
Like putting on a lovely, old, warm hoodie and then sticking your hands in the pocket and realising you washed a tissue. Comfy but a little stressful.
With shows from all over the world at the Fringe, what sets yours apart?
Our show will have news from all over the world and maybe knives, but mostly news. Currently the whole world is on fire, so anywhere and everywhere could feature.
On that, is there anything in the production or production team’s backgrounds which influences the way the show is performed or told?
We are all silly billies, that’s the biggest influence, I think.
Is there anything specific you’re hoping the audience will take away?
I hope they all take away their neighbour’s shoes and also a more hopeful feeling about the news.
Your Ideal audience is in attendance, who’s watching? Or more importantly – who isn’t…?
I want a room full of fun nerds, people who love seeing new and topical jokes and I want it to feel cult-like (so we might join a cult post-show).
Probably best the audience isn’t a member of the government or a billionaire (they might not like what I say about them)
It’s an intense month, so where you’re able, how do you plan to relax, and are there any other shows you intend to see or want to recommend?
How I relax… an hour of daily therapeutic screaming, then the cat cafe.
There are so many shows I want to see and would thoroughly recommend. Here’s just a few:
Brendon Lemon: An American Comedy Show That Quite Possibly Might Be Funny to the British.
Will Davies: Heroic Scale
Katie Pritchard is Sir Elton Scone
Tom Mayhew: Destroy Capitalism or Die Tryin’
Alexander Bennett: All It Takes
Lara Ricote: INKLING
Rachel Creeger: “Queen of the Jews”
Larry Dean: Hellbent
Steffan Alun: Windows
And, I’ll be making sure to recommend more on instagram throughout July and August, so follow me there.

Adele Cliff’s Topical Early Late Show With Adele Cliff will run at Venue 243, The Big Yurt at Hoots @ Potterrow
